Bra Solutions for Post Breast Augmentation
Bra Solutions for Post Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation, or Breast Implants, totally changes your bra shopping experience! While you'll love finding styles that show off your new and improved cleavage, you will also have to start from scratch when it comes to finding your perfect bra size and styles that work for you.

Post Surgery Care

Right after breast implant surgery, your breasts will be swollen. You will want to wear a comfortable bra without underwires during this time. You can see a selection of non-wire bras on our soft cup bras page. In many cases, the surgeon may recommend wearing a surgical bra, such as a compression bra, to reduce swelling and promote faster healing. At this stage, be sure to follow your doctor's advice. Don't graduate to underwire bras until your body is fully healed.

Your New Bra Size

After the swelling has subsided, you must be remeasured for your new bra size. Although you may have discussed your ideal cup size with you doctor, breast implants are not sized in cup sizes. You will still have to measure yourself to determine your new size. For directions on finding your size see our bra fitting room. Because augmented breasts tend to be rounder than natural breasts, you may "look like" a smaller cup size than you actually need to wear.

Got your new cup size? Now it's time to shop! Not all bras work well for augmented breasts, so be sure to try different styles to get a feel for your new shape. We generally recommend bras that have a rounded cup. You'll want to avoid bras that are high at the sides of the breast, because women with implants tend to have less breast tissue at the sides.
